"THE PAST AND FUTURE OF INFORMATION SYSTEMS: 1976-2006 AND BEYOND"

SCOPE

We are celebrating the 30th anniversary of IFIP TC8 by looking at the past, present and future of information systems looking at the effective design, delivery, use and impact of information technologies in organizations and society We are inviting leading scholars to give plenary presentations, but we also seek panels and papers to address this theme in relation to the themes of our working groups. Papers describing original work are invited in the areas listed below or other areas of information systems for presentation at the conference.

The interaction of information systems and the organization
Decision support systems
E-Business information systems: Multi-disciplinary research and practice
Information systems in public administration
Transfer and diffusion of information technology
Smart cards

PAPER SUBMISSION

Papers presenting original research in conference topics are being sought. All papers should be submitted electronically on the web site of the conference http://www.wcc-2006.org/tc8/ in Portable Document Format (PDF). The name and affiliation of all authors and the contact information for the lead author should be added on a separate cover page. The paper should be written in English and should be sent before January 15, 2006. Papers of no more than 12 pages should be submitted following the norms of the official publisher Springer Science+Business Media, IFIP Series. The instructions for preparing the papers can be downloaded from ftp://ftp.springer.de/pub/tex/latex/ifip/ or consulted at http://www.springeronline.com. Acceptance will be based on quality, relevance and originality and the practical value of the work. Authors will be notified of acceptance or rejection via e-mail by March 15, 2006. Full versions of accepted paper must be written in English, and will be due by April 7, 2006.

PANELS SUBMISSION

We also call for panels on this topic. Panel proposals should include panel topic; list of the panelists and chair names, and their main arguments. The submission should follow the same procedure (submission site and dates) as for papers.

Notification of acceptance: March 15, 2006
Camera-ready deadline: April 7, 2006
Conference: August 21-24, 2006
